Dreamland Margate

Dreamland is perched on the coaster in the the South Eastern resort of Margate. Dating from the nineteen century, the park is famed for being home to the Scenic Railway, the oldest roller coaster in the UK.

As trading conditions became tougher in the resort, the amusement park began to feel the effect of this. Ownership changes eventually led to the park’s complete closure in 2005. The Save Dreamland Campaign battled for a decade to save the park and the Scenic Railway, which had been damaged by arson attacks since its closure.

In 2015, a new reimagined Dreamland opened on the site with the Scenic Railway refurbished for a new generation of thrill seekers.
