In 1988, with the Pepsi Max Big One not even thought of, Blackpool Pleasure Beach began work on another steel coaster at the south end of the park. This was to be The Avalanche, built by Mack Rides (who 30 years later would return to the Pleasure Beach to build ICON).
The ride was inspired by a visit to the Mack owned Europa Park in 1985 where the company had launched their Bobsled product a year prior.
In this literature, Blackpool Pleasure Beach are showing off their new attraction and the sport that had inspired it.
