In the 1960s, print advertising was king. Here we see a poster from Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach’s campaign from the summer of 1966. Pride of place is the park’s scenic railway, known as ‘Roller Coaster’ dating from 1932.
The Thomspon Challenge was held every August by locals in the Cattle Market pub in Preston until the mid-1990s. The aim of the challenge was to ride each wooden coaster operated by the Thompson family in one day, visiting Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Pleasureland Southport and Frontierland Morecambe.
