Before Galactica, there was Air. Before Air, there was Skytrak, the first flying roller coaster ever built. It operated at Granada Studios Tour between 1997 – 1998 before eventually closing for good, a grand experiment that just couldn’t deliver the results that the park hoped for. The ride was plagued with technical issues and delays, operating sporadically during its brief history.
Skytrak was designed and built by Skytrak International, a subsidiary of Fairpoint Engineering, based in the small village of Adlington, just 20 miles from Granada Studios Tour itself.
Here is the concept art, that was shared prior to the official opening.
We are sure that we have a Skytrak POV video on VHS in the archives somewhere , we’ll try and dig it out and share it with you all.
